Nematoda meaning "Roundworm"
Pinworm
The pinworm is a parasite that is found in the small and large intestines of an infected human as well as the anus. Pinworms reproduce through sexual reproduction and one female pinworm can lay 10,000-15,000 eggs in about a month. The female pinworm travels through the anus of a human and lays her eggs in there. After the female has laid these eggs, she dies. After that these eggs travel throughout the small and large intestines laying more and more eggs. Pinworms are a parasite and rely on a host to keep them alive and give them the ability to reproduce. Adult pinworms attach to your intestinal lining and consume human fecal matter. The average pinworm has a life expectancy of about 4-8 weeks. It only takes a few hours for a pinworm to fully develop which can cause even more damage to your body if left untreated.
Ascaris
The ascaris, like the pinworm, is a parasite. it relies on a host to live and reproduce. One mature ascaris worm can produce up to 200,000 eggs in a day. These eggs are then forced out of the host through the fecal matter, causing the eggs to find a new host so they can live. After these eggs are ingested by a new host they burrow themselves in the intestinal lining, grow, and reproduce making even more ascaris eggs. This cycle can speed up or slow down depending on the internal conditions of the host in which the ascaris thrive in. The larvae from these organisms can migrate into the lungs where they can be coughed up and swalllowed into the air to find a new host. Young children and toddlers are most prone to getting ascaris worms.
